Stage set design is at the heart of AEJ Design, Co. Performing stage design services for community theaters or other non-profit groups AEJ has designed productions with little to no budget for materials, to more liberal accounts that let to larger sets. Shown here is a production put on by a community theatre, entitled "A Jr. Christmas Carol". This set was designed for the junior actors of the theatre. The challenges of this project included, creating a set where the props could be accessible on stage for every scene, developing three separate scenes to be present on stage during each act (outdoors, office and resident), and to have ample acting space for the young actors. Children's stage design proves to be fun, and challenging in that it causes the design to be scaled to fit the actors, but readable to the audience. Along with following the program, and adding a few personalized touches AEJ was able to meet the expectations of the production director, and the young actors were excited as well. "James and the Giant Peach"
written by Roald Dahl
The design for James and the Giant Peach reflects the fun, exploratory nature of the story. The characters vivid imagination takes the audience on a non-stop adventure across the ocean, through the sky and to New York City all within an hour’s time.

This fantastical play let to an unlimited amount of design solutions. Developing a design that was structurally sound, completely functional, and simple was the goal and subsequent end product.

Fun, lighthearted and enjoyable describes the process taken in design, construction and the ultimate experience of this production.

"The Importance of Being Earnest"
The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde presented challenges of bringing new and alternative design ideas to such a classical production. The solution included using broad gestures within the set, leaving most of the creativity to the actors.
This theme was carried to each scene for consistency, changing only one major element of the set each change, much like Oscar Wildes play on duality, and appearances with his characters. The set is more of a  dominant suggestion, leaving a wider interpretation to a theatrical classic, for the actors as well as the audience.
